Course Description
The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the form and functions of the federal, state and local government in the United States. The course concentrates on an examination of our democratic government. The Constitution will be examined with an emphasis on civil rights. Students will also be introduced to the form and functions of the US economic system, and the basic principles of economics.

Grading Policy

All classes follow the Romeo Community Schools Secondary Grading Policy that can be found on page seven (pg 7) in the Romeo High School Student Handbook. Retakes: If a student desires to retake an assignment, quiz, or other formative or summative assessment, please refer to pages three and four of the syllabus (below) Late Work: Late work is not a reflection of academic ability as much as it is a behavior issue. Late work is the result of a lack of effort and/or commitment. Therefore, late work will not incur an academic penalty (reduced points) but will be dealt with as follows:
Additionally, as formative assignments are done with the purpose of providing timely feedback for student learning (and therefore "correct answers" will be returned to students or discussed in class), late assignments will NOT be accepted for credit if
NOTE: Regardless of serving detention(s), missing assignments MUST be made up (without credit) if any reassessments are to be requested/attempted. Plagiarism: Plagiarism is taking someone else’s work and passing it off as your own (including copying other students’ work in class). This will neither be tolerated, nor accepted in this class. Work that has been plagiarized will not be accepted for credit and disciplinary action will be taken. Simply ask if you are unsure how to properly cite your work. Extra credit opportunities will NOT be provided. |
